Hyd startup SVAG pet homes sets ‘Barkitecture’ trend for canines

Hyderabad: SVAG Pet Homes LLP, a Hyderabad-based startup, has introduced a groundbreaking concept to the Indian market—'Barkitecture.' This novel trend in pet care, which tailors architecture and interior design specifically for dogs, is poised to reshape how pet owners design spaces for their furry friends. The company unveiled its new line of products, including Barkkey Villas, Barkkey Pods, and Barkkey Furniture, here on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, co-founder Vishal Bothra highlighted the growing trend of pet parenting, especially following the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw a surge in dog adoptions. "The pandemic helped many realise that dogs are not just pets, but family members," Bothra said. “Barkitecture is an evolution of this thought; a trend where homes are designed with the pet’s needs and tastes in mind.”

Barkitecture, a Western trend gaining momentum globally, refers to designing homes, furniture, and spaces that cater specifically to dogs, creating pet-centric environments that combine comfort, style, and functionality. SVAG’s offerings aim to elevate the traditional pet kennel into luxurious, personalised living spaces for dogs. From designer villas to cozy pods, the brand emphasises comfort and safety, ensuring that dogs have spaces to rest and recharge in style.

SVAG Pet Homes, which operates a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, currently, offers 25 product SKUs, with plans to introduce 50 more in the near future. The company has invested Rs1.8 crore in its operations and aims to sell 1,00,000 pieces in the next year. Prices for these designer pet homes range from Rs15,000 to Rs5 lakh, and products are available through the company’s website, Amazon, and Instagram. As part of their commitment to social responsibility, SVAG Pet Homes also launched the Barkkey Foundation, which focuses on promoting responsible pet parenting and supporting street dogs.
